What is the Triangle?

In geometry, a triangle is a type of polygon which have three sides. All the triangle sides may be the same or maybe not, it depends on the triangle types.

The perimeter of a Triangle

The perimeter of a triangle is the addition of all its three sides.

Perimeter of a triangle = Addition of all three sides

Perimeter of a Triangle

Perimeter of a triangle ABC = AB + BC + CA

= c + a + b unit.

Solved Examples of Perimeter of a Triangle

Example 1: Determine the perimeter of a triangle whose sides are 6 cm, 8 cm, and 2 cm.

Solution:

a = 6 cm

b = 8 cm

c = 2 cm

Perimeter of a triangle = Sum of all sides = a + b + c = 6 + 8 + 2 = 16

So, the answer is 16 cm.

Example 2: Determine the perimeter of a triangle whose each length is 5 m.

Solution: Since according to the question all 3 sides are equal in length. This is called an equilateral triangle.

So  a = b = c = 5 m

Perimeter of a triangle = a + b + c

= 5 + 5 + 5

= 15

Perimeter = 15 m.

Example 3: Find the Perimeter of an equilateral triangle whose one side is 4 cm.

equilateral triangle

Side of the triangle = 4 cm

Perimeter of an equilateral triangle = 3 x length of the side

= ( 3 x 4 ) cm

= 12 cm
